"The First 150 Years, is a way to pay homage to the park and the land it encompasses aside from just its inclusion in the national park. The place and the construct of the national park has meant so much to me, obviously, and the book is a reflection of that love as well as a reflection of my love for history, western art, wildlife, and all the other elements included in Yellowstone". -Jeff Henry

The book is primarily a picture book with 325 illustrations, with exactly 100 of those being Jeff's own photographs. Nearly one third of the book's illustrations are his own photos is reflective of the fact that he has been here 45 years, which amounts to nearly one third of Yellowstone's existence as a park. The 325 illustrations are accompanied by detailed captions, as well as a narrative text describing Yellowstone's history and prehistory.

Sidebars include profiles of the artists such as Thomas Moran who made the park famous, how the "subculture" of park employees has evolved over the years, the role of wildlife biologists in range management, as well as the ebb and flow of its large mammal populations as an increased human presence has put pressure on the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. This book also collects historic photographs, classic art, and an accompanying narrative that traces the history of the area from its Native American inhabitants to the present. agement, as well as the ebb and flow of its large mammal populations as an increased human presence has put pressure on the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Notwithstanding these challenges, the book will be a celebration of the resilience of the place earlier visitors called "Wonderland."
